BOPP films: The Mainstream Films for Flexible Packaging

2026-06-16

In the fields of flexible packaging, labels, and composite films, BOPP  is the leading thin-film technologies.

Ⅰ. What is the BOPP films?

BOPP : Biaxially Oriented Polypropylene Film

  • Raw material :PP (Polypropylene)  Particle
  • Craftsmanship :PP Melt extrusion → Longitudinal stretching → Transverse stretching → Forming and winding
  • Positioning :Traditional general-purpose film , industry applications 30 + Year, with the largest production capacity and the best cost-performance ratio.

Ⅱ. Core Features

Rigidity versus Resilience :High rigidity, high stiffness , firm and not limp, with strong crispness; after printing, it remains flat without curling at the edges.

  1. Temperature Resistance:Not cold-tolerant , the embrittlement point is approximately 0℃ , refrigerated / Prone to brittleness and cracking in frozen conditions; heat-resistant up to approximately 120℃
  2. Heat-sealing performance (packaging core) :It can hardly be heat-sealed directly. , with no heat-seal layer on the surface; adhesive coating and lamination are required. PE Laminating or coating with a heat-sealant increases processing steps and costs.
  3. Recyclability (an essential environmental requirement) : Difficult to recycle,PP After biaxial stretching, it exhibits high crystallinity and structural stability, resulting in low recyclability; once compounded, it becomes even more difficult to separate.
  4. Appearance and Printing : High gloss, high transparency , transparency 90%+ , with vibrant colors and high clarity, ideal for premium printing
  5. Cost and Capacity: Low cost, production capacity at full utilization , global production capacity exceeds 3000 Ten thousand tons, with stable prices and unbeatable value.

Ⅲ. Application Scenarios

Core Use: Printed composite outer layers, labels, adhesive tapes, general packaging, and aluminized base films

  • Food: outer layers of snack bags, bread bags, and packaging for dry goods
  • Daily Chemicals: shampoo labels, skincare product outer packaging, and composite films for daily-use products.
  • Industrial: adhesive tape base film, aluminized film substrate, paper-plastic composite film
  • Others: cigarette packs, laminated paper, stationery packaging

Applicable Scenarios : Room temperature, no heat sealing required, prioritizing cost-effectiveness and print quality.
